Open Doors for a Cause

Paymaster Station House

Black and white photo of a large two-story house with a porch and dormer windows.

Built in 1920

The Mining Pay House (or Paymaster Station House) was formerly the headquarters for mining business activities in the area. It stands as a reminder of Ely’s early industrial landscape , surrounded by characteristic Ely Greenstone. This impressive building, constructed in 1920, contained offices, record storage, and multiple vaults. The building was later modified for residential use, but a hidden room remains!

The house is now a private home owned for the last 11 years by the Lindsay family.
